Sinhgad fort – A tribute to bravery of Tanaji Malusare

Whenever the name Sinhgad comes up, it reminds me that chapter of history where i had read about the bravery of Tanaji Malusare, he was a great Maratha warrior and General of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This fort has seen many wars and blood sheds, and famous among them is the war of 1670, where Tanaji Malusare sacrificed his life and the Maratha warriors captured the fort. Chhatrapati Shivaji termed Tanaji as “sinha” (Marathi equivalent for English “lion”) and renamed Kondhana as Sinhagad.

It a very good place, just around 30Kms from Pune. Its a great place for Trekkers and nature lovers. The vehicle goes up to the base point and then the journey is mildly tough. The view from the top is very beautiful. Best season to go there is from July to September or from December to February. There are many food stall and a huge parking space is also available.
